Pongphen Guesthouse - SHA Plus Certified

The location was fantastic. I booked a Studio River View room. It was spacious and clean. The pool was nice, although I only used it once as I’m not a real pool person. Included breakfast and other meals were very nice, with lots of choices… but I only eat Thai food when in Thailand! 😂 The staff were very friendly and helpful. The availability of scooter hire at the guest house was great, although it is only a very short walk out to the street for plenty of choices of shops, restaurants and bars. I was very impressed with the accommodation and can’t believe it is only 2 stars. I would definitely stay here again!

A great place to stay in Kanchanaburi in a good location for everything . Rooms are very clean and comfortable, the food here is excellent they have a great menu with international dishes available too , breakfast is free for some of the rooms with a set menu , but also have bigger breakfasts available at a good price and delicious 😋. The staff here are very friendly and make you feel like part of the family , Patrick a Thai worker here is always happy and very helpful . There is also a great swimming pool here too which is great to cool off with plenty of new sun loungers . For me this place is a home from home I won't want to leave 😄. Thanks again to all the staff at Phongphen for making this place so good 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️.

good location staff friendly good size room clean

Nice quick check in and a friendly welcome from staff. We liked that they had bus and train timetables on the counter and staff were helpful with transport connections. The room and bathroom were huge (we had a room upstairs). The bed was massive but a bit on the hard side like everywhere in Thailand. The air con was good. The shower had good pressure most of the time, I don't know if the water heater worked because I only had cold showers. The included breakfast was good and there were several options. The location is set back from the main street so you don't hear much noise from the bars. There is, however, a club on the other side of the river that you can hear from the balcony but not in the room and it doesn't go on too late so don't let that put you off. There are loads of restaurants, bars and minimarkets within walking distance. The Bridge is about a 25 minute walk but if you want to go by tuk tuk there's a lovely lady with a white Super Cub tricycle on the main road to the left, she's a gem.

Perfect stay all round. The restaurant had a very extensive menu of all kinds of very tasty meals from Thai to European for very reasonable prices, all dishes were available. The breakfast included in the room rate has many choices as well. All staff were very friendly and efficient. The swimming pool was clean. Aircon in the Standard room in the Main Building was very effective.
